The Brokenness We Share
The Brokenness We Share from KSHC on Vimeo.
The Brokenness We Share tells the story behind one inner-city community health centre working with marginalized communities, including people who use illicit drugs. It is about understanding drug use, addiction, and the common vulnerabilities we all share. It is about breaking down the false divide between “us” and “them”.
Street Health Centre is located in Kingston Ontario. The Brokenness We Share is narrated by Ron Shore, the Program Director of the Centre who has worked in harm reduction for more than 15 years, and contains interviews with clients and staff.
How Much Citric
The film shows real heroin being prepared for injection and explains exactly how an acidifier helps the drug dissolve in water. Both vitamin C (vit C) and citric acid are acidifiers that work the same in dissolving the drug. In the film they use citric acid. OHRDP supplies Vitamin C (vit C). The 300mg vit C sachet has 3 times the amount of powder that the 100mg citric sachet has, because weight for weight, vit C isn’t as strong as citric acid.
Take into consideration while watching the film and when using the product that vit C is less strong than citric acid and therefore more is needed to dissolve the drug. The process shown in the film, using citric acid, is relevant to users of vit C.
There is no evidence that vit C is better than citric acid or vise versa. Both can cause vein damage. Encourage people to use the least amount possible. Click here to view.
